|The universe is sometimes kind

So, today I fought the virus-based inertia and took Tyrannosaurus Lex into town. We went into Target Country, but there were no white skirts. However, his most recent favourite colour is blue, and there was a nice aqua skirt in his size, so we bought that one.
Driving in to town, I had seen a person in a dog suit in front of the pet shop, so figured we'd pop down there. As we neared the area it was obvious there was some fundraising going on. Then I heard the bagpipes. I looked about and yes, there was the player, complete with kilt. The universe is sometimes kind.
I took TLex down to see the piper, and there was a pause as he was asked if he wanted to cuddle the dog-suited person. Lex gave a big long cuddle, and as he was about to leave a lady from the local paper asked if she could take his photo, so there may be a shot of Lex and another child with Happy the dog in next week's paper.
Lex loved watching the bagpipes being played. I've always had a fondness for them as well. Before we left, we both danced to a bagpipe mash-up of Waltzing Matilda and Jesus Christ Superstar.
On the way back, Lex got his face painted. Then we dropped into the bookshop. They asked if I knew about computer games, I said I didn't know much, but could recommend getting in Batman - Arkham City since the first one did well and this one looked set to equal or better Arkham Asylum.
I told them I was thinking they may wish to carry some of the big classic graphic novels and collections, given they were looking at ways to expand their range even further. I'll do the same thing I did with the DVDs - give them a list of great titles, including ones I myself want to buy, so that if they don't move within a few months, they aren't too badly out of pocket.
Oh, and they gave me a gift voucher to thank me for the previous work I did. I wasn't expecting anything like that, so it was a nice surprise. It is looking like we may well end up coming to some sort of arrangement if this keeps up. *fingers crossed*
Came home and TLex was eager to try on his new skirt. Needless to say he loved it. He was prancing around, pulling the material out to look at it, and having a ball. We put GodZoe into the dress given to her by hespa and took them both outside for a brief impromptu photo shoot. I was quickly reminded of why I take fewer pictures of either of them these days. It's so very hard to wrangle the pair of them into a decent photo.
Later I broke out the wooden blocks and left them playing in their room. A while later I heard the unmistakeable clatter of the box of plastic blocks being upended. When I went in later, it was with the dread of a parent knowing that two different sets of things have been mixed into a bare-foot death-trap on the floor.
Except there wasn't one. TLex and GodZoe had put away all the wooden blocks first, then got out the plastic ones! I asked them to put them away, and working together they put all the plastic blocks away before tea.
And tonight, TLex was being a little unsettled, and came into their room where I was reading to GodZoe. They ended up both sitting at the little table reading books. So obviously we're doing something right!
This has been a very good day.
Apparently the dog is called Happy Go Lucky. A suit like that, on a warm, humid day? Should be called Melty Go Ucky.
TLex loved the bagpipes, but then he seems to love most musical instruments, as does GZ. I had to buy a new recorder, and may have to buy a new harmonica. I'm keeping them away from the jaw harp, I don't want the dentistry bills.
TLex with fresh face paint.
After lunch. A great look helped by the drawn on eyebrow.
TLex with his new skirt. He's very happy about it :)
GodZoe looking deceptively cute.
GodZoe and Tyrannosaurus Lex.
Both reading before bed.
And now after a late night, bed for me!
