40th Birthday Present Pics Day 1 [Sep. 23rd, 2008|01:07 pm]

[mood |cheerfulcheerful]

Due to my various computer hassles, mixed in with being stroke boy, and being forgetful, I haven't gotten around to sorting/coverting these until now. Late nights with Lex can be good sometimes :)

This is the first day of travelling, and the pictures are in chronological order, so you get a sense of the journey...

Sydney! We arrived early and so had a bit of a wander.

One of the buildings as we searched for a Lush store. The store wasn't where it was meant to be, according to their website.

I like this shot. The platform on the far right is where the train left from.

Boss! Boss! De train! De traaiin!

Next time I do the trip, I'd like to try and take a GPS with me, so I can try to find odd little places like this one.

Sharon, four months pregnant and looking gorgeous.

I love industrial architecture.

One of my few shots of the train.

Smoke from a large fire makes for a nice sunset pic, but still means someone's probably having a bad day.

More pictures tomorrow! Thank you again to all of you who put in for this trip. It was wonderful, and we're definitely going to be doing it again.

And naturally, special extra big thank-yous go to rendragon. You have an awesome heart *hugs*

Great shots!

I really must do the Adelaide - Sydney leg of the Indian Pacific one of these days...

Happy birthday!
Once in a while my father gets to fly over there to work on power plants (Coal and other "burning" plants, he works on the ash systems for their emissions control systems.)
I should pull over going to work one of these days in Commerce City and get a photo for you. Steel refineries, chemical plants, so on. At night it's all amazingly cool looking. One has a stack that has this blue flame that dances about almost like a ghost.

Lovely photos. I especially love the mystery stone building hidden in the forest, fleetingly seen from the window...

Also, the second of these photos messes with my head in very interesting ways. I still cannot be convinced that it is in fact the right way up, or indeed which way up it *should* be.
