I became a dad again, but this time the little bugger is hanging around.
I got to go camping with hespa again. Just one night, but it was really good to get away together again.
There's going to be a Continuum 5 next year - so start saving.
A bunch of people paid for me to be able to take the train to Perth, which was organised by the lovely rendragon.
While sitting up with Lex last night, I finally got around to sorting/converting the photos from the train trip. If I don't get them up today, they will be up soon.
In order to have Lex, Sharon and I got to have sex!
The previous line rhymed!
Yesterday we found a lot of BBC audio releases of missing Doctor Who episodes at way cheaper prices than normal, so I've filled a bunch of gaps. Had the missing stories on audio tape and CD, but it's nice to have the official releases.
Have met another woman who seems to think of me as good looking. I can never get enough of that. She's also lovely to hang with, the rare times we get to catch up.
My car has a new engine (a 202), has had a touch-up done on it's paintwork, and is now registered for the ACT.
Our son's name, Alexander Joseph Thomas Oz, honours several people. Alexander for his great grandfather and my grandmother (Alexandrovna), Joseph being family tradition to have as one of the names (my father was Barry Joseph, his grandfather was Joseph, I'm Danny Joseph, and there are numerous Josephs and Josephines throughout my family), and Thomas is Sharon's dad's name, and my bio-mum's surname. Having so much family history built into his name is important to me. If only I could have managed to fit in Barraclough somewhere...
Sharon's body has actually been markedly improved by pregnancy. She's lost weight, is generally seeming fitter, and has some lovely curves. And I get to see her naked!
Character Options are doing action figures of the original series of Doctor Who.
Greg Tannahill is running in the upcoming local elections. I am so very proud of him.
Sharon and I celebrated 10 years of marriage, and as a couple we're stronger than we've ever been.
In fact, working together looking after Lex has only made us stronger still!
I found a wonderful new lover with Seshat. Yeah, we're only likely to see each other once or twice a year, but she's delightful.
A bunch of my relatives are now reading my LJ - and have reached this line after re-reading the previous one a couple of times, I'm sure. Welcome to my totally transparent life! I figure if you have concerns, you can ask us, or look through the LJ until you find the posts that explain our relationship... or just pretend you haven't read the previous bit.
I'm very happy I decided I wasn't going to friends-lock posts just because our relatives were reading. I didn't work so long and hard to stop self-censoring only to start again because of a new audience. I think this XKCD comic explains my overall attitude.
kaths had her daughter!
I got a new computer, am very happy with it, and am just waiting for Ubuntu to produce their next update so that it will (hopefully) be able to recognise my wireless... thingy.
I got the Silver Swan. Which still blows me away, still doesn't quite seem real, still makes me think I have to work harder so that I can actually feel I've earned the thing, and still routinely makes me tear-up when I think about it.
Lex got given Doctor Who booties!
Shasta and I finally got to have a decent yak at Swancon, and she totally rocks!
All up, while still struggling a hell of a lot in some ways, I'm improving health-wise.
I finally had one of my good periods that corresponded with a convention, and so was able to party like a mad thing... well, for me, post-stroke, anyway.
After I received the Silver Swan, a friend MMSed me a picture of her breasts, with the caption "Great Show, old man." This meant the world to me because of who it was, and what it said about our friendship. And as a bonus, she has very nice breasts. Still keep meaning to send her a photo of my willy, but am waiting for a reason to celebrate/congratulate :)
gutter_monkey is still making the world a better place through humour and silliness, and I think many lives are better for having been touched by him.
Mum is paying to have a walking stick made for me for my birthday. I'm planning on having it carved to look like the stick Hartnell is given in Marco Polo. There are actually two sticks, but I like the design of the first season one more.
I'm learning to swim!
And have yet to drown!
Sharon got through her pregnancy remarkably well.
Sharon was only cranky for one and a half days out of her entire pregnancy... I like rubbing that one in for other fathers :)
I got to spend my 40th birthday in Eucla.
John fucking Howard is no longer Prime Minister.
bunnikins went off to live in Asia for a while. Which is a fabulous new adventure and I'm very pleased for her.
I got a new digital SLR camera, which I love.
Sharon's cousin Karen agreed to be Lex's god-mum. Though as she said, we're to call her God now.
I've struggled mentally a lot this year, as my base health has improved. Managed to read a couple of books early on, then started to find reading increasingly difficult. It also meant I wasn't getting stuff up online to sell. So getting a bunch of cool Doctor Who toys and DVDs online in the last couple of weeks has been very good for my morale.
I have a new customer who I really like. He's a great guy, and I like his wife and kids. They gave us a highchair! I'm hoping this becomes a friendship, because they are all good people.
I have met, developed, deepened, or rediscovered friendships with a bunch of people including - thewickerman586, swirlability, stephiepenguin, robshearman, rendragon, rachelholkner, pre_vet_girl, oothoona, nevryn, logansrogue, lie_xin, kattilz, kaths, kaelajael, hespa, harveystoat, haircaspian, gutter_monkey, girliejones, gadge, fuschia17, frzn_mmnt, fe2h2o, celuran, ariaflame, phantomtrev - to name a few, and there are plenty I have missed. My life has been improved in so many ways, just by meeting and interacting with these people. Some I see only briefly once in a while, but each interaction stays with me.
My biological mother, Bernadette, and I now finally have something that will mean we will be keeping in touch. We've tended to both been busy/slack/distracted in that department, but now Lex is in the world, we are in regular contact.
I rarely get to catch up with mondyboy and vanilla_extreme these days, but both still inspire and delight me.
I got my trike, thanks to some help from the wonderful arcadiagt5, and I love it. Haven't gotten to ride it for a month, but things are settling down and so should be able to again, soon. Would have today, but it's raining, and I'm trying to get other things done.
I am able to actually be helpful with the looking after Lex duties. Something that I was a little nervous about. I'm continuously exhausted, but I was like that anyway.
It's very good for my ego to discover that I'm the one person who can pretty consistently calm Lex down.
duntov_475hp deserves a special mention. He's a guy whose life has had some serious ups and downs, but so often he reveals perspectives and mindsets that I find rare, interesting, and helpful. One of the many people I wish I was organised enough to have more to do with.
Today I went to the local breast-feeding/playgroup. I got to spend an hour surrounded by children, this made for an awesomely good day.
I have gotten to offer help and assistance to various people and groups over the last year - a life is well-lived if it helps to even slightly improve the lot of others.
I have decided that in a few years I would like to try and ride across the Nullabor. Even better, hespa likes the idea and is talking about travelling with me.
mondyboy and julesmond got married. Okay, it didn't happen while I was 40, but I was, and am, just so very happy for the both of them.
