[mood |curiouscurious]

1. Go to http://www.careercruising.com
2. Put in Username: nycareers, Password: landmark.
3. Take their "Career Matchmaker" questions.
4. Post the top ten results.

1.Child and Youth Worker
2.Social Worker
5.Addictions Counselor
6.Environmental Consultant
8.Civil Engineering Tech
10.Genetic Counselor

I can see pretty much all of these. And as for 7, well I am an ordained Minister in the Universal Life Church, so yep, they all work. Others include -

15.Pest Controller - I love that these three are together!

18.Special Effects Technician
20.Model Maker
32.Makeup Artist
34.Costume Designer
37.Set Designer - All things I've done or wanted to do

11.Humanitarian Aid Worker
40.Marriage and Family Therapist - More people work

17.Marine Biologist
27.Park Warden / Ranger
29.Conservation Officer
31.Environmental Engineer - All things I have an interest in.

PS That was the first bunch of questions answered, then I realised I could answer more. When I did them all it came out like this -

2.Director of Photography
4.Interior Designer
6.Civil Engineering Tech
7.Set Designer
8.Sign Maker
9.Special Effects Technician
10.Landscape Architect

You know, looking at the way my skills are progressing, 2. would be an interesting career move... In the absense of being able to write the way I want, 14. Photographer, isn't looking bad either... and then there's the secret 2 year project I'm working on... *grin*

And my favourite, especially in light of recent Belwood events...
36.Race Car Mechanic

1. Industrial Designer
2. Chemist
3. Website Designer
4. Desktop Publisher
5. Cartoonist / Comic Illustrator
6. Animator
7. Chemical Engineer
8. Multimedia Developer
9. Artist
10.Exhibit Designer

Number 2 is what I actually do for a living. 5 and 6 are hillarious, as I can't draw to save myself. And I loved number 11 and 12:
11. Winemaker
12. Potter

I'd love to do either of those :)

My top ten were all engineering and science, to no great surprise. In fact the only non-sci-eng careers in the top twenty were makeup artist (at 13), elevator installer and repairer (at 17) and set designer (at 20). I am amused that elevator tech came in one higher than oceanographer, and that arborist only ranked 9. I think they need to include "science communicator" as one of their possible careers - they asked the right kind of questions for it.
