So, does anybody else think that the folks who built the Vervoid costumes were giggling amongst themselves that whole time?

I think somewhere a production design wanted to make a monster to balance with Alpha Centauri.

Good thing we never had a team-up of both races. Parents would have been switching off all over the country.

Alpha Centauri has remained etched in my memory forever as the day the props dept could only find a pinch pleat curtain to make an alien out of.

The curtain was a late addition to Alpha Centuri. The director Lennie Mayne insisted on something, because as he put it, Centauri looked like "a giant green dick."

After the addition, Centauri became known as the "Dick in a jacket."

It's possible that they never even noticed until it was too late to do anything about it.

Apparently a whole bunch of SFX shots for the /84 Dune film had to be reshot because the orignal sandworms looked too much like penises ... 400m long penises.

Have you ever seen H.R. Giger's sandworm designs for the 1976 attempt at making Dune? His main picture of them looks like white ribbed penises with teeth swallowing a big black biomechanoid penis! Maybe it was meant to be a political or social statement.
